Proving and Reproving | Lesson 123
In this sermon, Josh Strelecki, Pastor-Teacher, delves into Ephesians 5:8-14 to explore the concept of walking as children of light, highlighting the transformation from darkness to light that believers undergo in Christ. He emphasizes that being light in the Lord comes with the responsibility to embody and exhibit goodness, righteousness, and truth, as these are the fruit of the Spirit that should manifest in a believer who is walking after the Spirit. Strelecki explains that this transformation is not only an internal change but calls for believers to prove what is acceptable unto the Lord, thus engaging in a deliberate effort to apply God's will in their lives.
Strelecki also outlines the importance of reproving the unfruitful works of darkness by not partaking in them and by unashamedly living out the truth. He challenges to assess whether one is spiritually awake or asleep, urging them to rise and embrace the light of Christ. This involves a conscious effort to walk in the ways of God, which includes using scripture as a guide in both proving what aligns with God's will and reproving what doesn't.
