Ephesians 2:8-9 may be one of the most memorized verses by Christians - and rightly so. Yet, what is the relationship of the verses to its context? Salvation is a work of God according to the exceeding greatness of His power that we are to know. Truly, salvation is "of God". He planned its provision, established the law of faith, Christ provided for redemption, God calls by the gospel, and all by His grace. When the individual believes in Christ through the word of truth, the gospel of salvation - God worketh that salvation toward the believer. He quickens, raises, and seats them in and with Christ. Such workmanship is peculiar, precise, and purposeful unto good works.
