The Ephesians time past plight wasn't only that they were dead in trespasses and sins but they were aliens and strangers from being able to do anything about it. Gentiles were willfully far off without God and Christ having no hope. Josh Strelecki, Pastor-Teacher traces the history of the Gentiles plight from Genesis 11 forward examining their idolatry, but also God's means of reconciling the earth through Abraham and his seed and great nation. Yet, Israel failed and enmity stood in the way between the Jews and the Gentiles. By the cross God would not only bring peace between the two.
